A vibration at highway speed is almost always balance; uneven wear is almost always alignment or worn suspension. We check which one you have before selling you tires you may not need yet.

What Happens In The Bay
- 01We read the wear pattern first, because it tells us what the suspension, alignment and inflation have been doing for the last twenty thousand miles.
- 02Tread depth is measured on all four rather than eyeballed, and we check the DOT date codes — rubber ages on a clock as well as under a car.
- 03Vibration complaints get a balance check; pulling and uneven wear get an alignment measurement. They are different faults and we do not sell you one for the other.
- 04Where there is a slow leak we pull the wheel and find it — bead corrosion, valve stem, or a puncture — rather than just adding air.
- 05Any worn suspension parts are identified before an alignment, because aligning a car with worn bushings or ball joints will not hold.
What Waiting Costs
A bad toe setting can scrub a new set of tires down to the cords in around ten thousand miles, and an unbalanced wheel loads bearings and shocks while it cups the tire. Both problems destroy the expensive component — the tires — while remaining cheap to correct.

How Long It Takes
Mounting and balancing a set is typically an hour or two. Puncture repairs and rotations are usually quicker, and walk-ins are welcome for tire work.
Driving Conditions Around Columbus
Two Columbus-specific things show up constantly here. Salt corrodes the bead seat on alloy wheels, which is the most common slow leak we find on cars that live in Ohio — and it is fixed by cleaning and resealing, not by a new tire. And the potholes that open in February and March knock toe settings out, which is why we see a wave of feathered tread wear every spring.

Common Questions
- Is my vibration a balance problem or an alignment problem?
- If it comes in at a particular speed and goes away again, that is balance. If the car pulls constantly or the tires are wearing unevenly, that is alignment. They fix two different things, and paying for the wrong one is how people end up doing both twice.
- How do I know when to replace my tires?
- The penny test marks the legal minimum, not a safe one — wet braking degrades badly below 4/32". Age matters too: check the four-digit DOT date code, and treat anything over six years old as due for serious inspection regardless of tread.
- Why does my tire light come on every cold morning?
- Air pressure falls about 1 PSI for every 10°F. A 30-degree overnight drop takes 3 PSI out of every tire without a single leak. If one tire is consistently lower than the other three, though, that is a leak and worth finding.
- Can you repair a puncture instead of selling me a tire?
- Where it is safely repairable, yes — punctures in the tread area can usually be plug-patched properly from the inside. Sidewall damage and bulges cannot be repaired and the tire has to be replaced.
