While the car is up we check tire pressures, wiper blades and every fluid under the hood. It takes us five extra minutes and it catches problems early.

What Happens In The Bay
- 01We use the grade printed on your oil filler cap — not a house default — because modern engines with variable valve timing are calibrated for a specific viscosity.
- 02The filter is matched to your engine's specification. Filter quality is where cheap oil changes cut corners, and a failed anti-drainback valve means a dry start every morning.
- 03Old oil is drained fully and the drain plug washer replaced where the manufacturer calls for it.
- 04While the car is on the lift we check every other fluid, the tire pressures, the wipers and anything visibly leaking or worn — this is where most problems get caught early.
- 05The service reminder is reset before you leave.

Driving Conditions Around Columbus

Common Questions
- How much is an oil change?
- Oil changes start at $75 and run to around $350 depending on oil type and how much your engine holds. A four-cylinder taking conventional oil and a large engine requiring full synthetic are genuinely different jobs.
- Do I really need it every 3,000 miles?
- Almost certainly not. The 3,000-mile rule is decades out of date for modern oils. Follow your manufacturer's interval and your oil life monitor — though if you do mostly short trips, err toward the shorter end of the range.
- Is synthetic worth the extra money?
- If your manufacturer requires it, it is not optional — many turbocharged and direct-injection engines specify it. Otherwise it is genuinely worth it for short trips, extreme temperatures, and towing. On an older engine doing longer drives, conventional changed on schedule is fine.
- Can I switch back to conventional after using synthetic?
- Yes. They are fully compatible and can be mixed. The story that you cannot go back has been circulating since the 1970s and there is nothing to it.
