- Why tow to you rather than the nearest shop?

- My car overheated. Can I just drive it the last few miles?
- We would strongly advise not. Overheating is one of the few faults where a few more miles turns a thermostat or a hose into a head gasket or a warped head. Pull over, let it cool completely, and call.
- Can you jump start me instead of towing?
- Often, yes — and if the car then runs, we will tell you so rather than putting it on a truck. If it dies again straight away, that points at the charging system and it is coming in anyway.
